How to make the most out of Twitter on your website to increase followers, drive engagement, and grow your business.

If your company has a website and a Twitter account, there are three quick actions you can take to ensure you don’t miss out on extra reach, engagement, and followers.

Your checklist:

  1. Embed your Twitter profile. Add to your website to amplify the reach of your Tweets.
  2. Include Tweets in your website’s content. Improve consumption value and increase trust in your content.
  3. Add “Follow” and “Message” buttons to your website. Make it easy for customers to join your audience and get in touch.

By checking off this short list, you’ll be able to amplify what you’re doing on Twitter, grow your audience, and make your website more engaging. Let’s dive deeper to understand why these steps are important and how to get them done.

1. How to add your Twitter profile to your website:

  1. Go to publish.twitter.com.
  2. Enter the URL of your Twitter profile.
  3. Customize the design by specifying the height and theme (light or dark).
  4. Copy and paste the code into the HTML of your website wherever you would like the timeline to appear.

2. Include Tweets in your articles.

Tweets increase the consumption value of articles, according to a 2017 survey conducted by Twitter1. They enrich content, bring context, and provide a way to link to sources. More than 7 million websites included Tweets on their websites in 2020, and people tell us that they provide entertainment value, help people assess reactions, and make information more trustworthy.

How to find Tweets worth including:

  • Search for Tweets that mention your brand so that you can embed testimonials about your product or service.
  • Visit Twitter’s Explore page to see what’s happening in the world. Click through to find relevant and interesting Tweets. Here you will often find Moments which are curated and vetted by Twitter staff. Use these as the basis for content creation.
  • Write about what’s gaining traction by looking at Topics such as Viral Tweets and Funny Tweets. Check these daily for ongoing sources of content inspiration.

How to embed a Tweet on your website or blog:

Many content management systems will make adding a Tweet as easy as pasting the Tweet URL into the editor. If you would like to customize the embed or get the embed code, try this:

  1. On your chosen Tweet, click the ··· icon located within the Tweet.
  2. From the menu, select Embed Tweet.
  3. This will open publish.twitter.com where you can customize the look of the embedded Tweet by clicking set customization options.
  4. If the Tweet is a reply to another Tweet, you can check Hide Conversation to hide the original Tweet.
  5. Once you like the look of the embedded Tweet, copy the code provided by clicking the Copy Code button.
  6. Paste the code into your blog or website.

Try it out by setting a challenge to include 20 Tweets in your content this month.
