To help give insight into what resonates most with followers in specific verticals, we analyzed the content of millions of Tweets sent by verified users in the U.S., looking at the numbers of Retweets that included specific hard features mentioned below.

These are the results for music verified users - which includes artists, record labels and others in the industry.
Video comes into its own in Tweets by verified music users, with a 35% increase in Retweets. Let’s say @artist normally gets an average of 100 Retweets per post. A video would see them getting an average of 135 per Tweet.
That’s followed by photos, quotes and hashtags.

When you’re trying to foster the relationship with your fans, you should keep in mind the types of Tweets that most resonate with them. Just as each individual song contributes to an overall album, you should always think of your Twitter presence holistically while using this research to inform your strategy. For example:
Post a link to your latest video or even a clip behind the scenes, just like Katy Perry (@KatyPerry) did here.
Alternatively, you could tweet a lyric or a backstage photo. And using hashtags means that your fans can find the conversation more easily.
